Y Gwr Kadarn
PRESENTED BY: Boston University and Cymrodorion Boston
DIRECTOR/PRODUCER: Dr. Sarah B. Campbell
SYNOPSIS: This late 16th-century Welsh play has only been performed once before in June 2010 at Saint Fagans National History Museum in Wales by Cardiff University’s School of Welsh Drama Group and sponsored by the US-UK Fulbright Commission. A unique specimen of a Welsh play from this period, Y Gwr Kadarn is an odd combination of a short morality play with bluster, banter, and a bit of farce.
COMPANY BIOGRAPHY: An eclectic medley of brave players from Boston University and Cymrodorion Boston who are intrigued by such a rare opportunity.

Her courses focus on Theater Now in Boston and the legends of King Arthur from the Mabinogion through Malory. She received her doctorate in English Language and Literature (Medieval Drama) from the Catholic University of America and transcribed and translated Y Gwr Kadarn for her dissertation. She spent an academic year as a Fulbright Distinguished Research Scholar at Cardiff University’s School of Welsh working with Dr Dylan Foster Evans on the play.
